Hiram College appoints Williams VP Development, Alumni Relations – Business Journal Daily


HIRAM, Ohio – Hiram College this week announced the appointment of Walter Williams as vice president for development and alumni relations. It will begin its work on December 13.

Williams will oversee development, alumni relations and internal communications initiatives, as well as foundation, corporate and government relations. He will also be a member of the president’s cabinet.

“Over the course of my career, I have come to believe in the transformative power of a liberal arts education, such as the one Hiram provided for over 170 years,” says Williams. “It’s a tough time for liberal arts colleges, but tough times are also times of great opportunity. Williams comes to college after serving as vice president of advancement at SUNY Empire State College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Senior Director of Development for the School of Architecture at Syracuse University, and in various roles at Cornell University, Ithaca College and Slippery Rock University.

Williams holds a BA in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of Mississippi and an MA in Organizational Communication from Ithaca College.
