Madonna and FKA Twigs were spotted front row at the Central Saint Martins (CSM) undergraduate fashion show on Tuesday. The prestigious art school – known for producing renowned designers Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo – held its annual exhibition in London’s Kings Cross area, where students displayed their graduate collections to a host of friends, family, fashion buyers and editors. .

According to Women’s Wear Daily, Madonna arrived in a Moschino studded leather jacket and boombox bag by Midnight Studios. While FKA Twigs embodied cyberpunk chic in a pair of spiral snake-print hoop earrings by independent jewelers Panconesi and dystopian platform lace-up boots Gareth Pugh.

The designs on the catwalk ranged from political to futuristic, with a designer sending 3D QR codes down the catwalk. Once scanned, users were redirected to a specially designed Instagram filter that contained renders of the designs. Another look included a transparent pregnant belly.

L’Oréal Professionnel, a partner of the CSM for more than 20 years, has once again joined forces with the university to offer the Young Talent Prize which rewards three scholarship graduates each year. Previous winners are designers Grace Wales Bonner and Richard Quinn. This year, knitwear designer Alice Morell Evans received the grand prize for her sculptural crochet pieces. Among the finalists were womenswear designer Emil Dernbach and fashion design and marketing graduate Diana Sträng.

FKA Twigs and Madonna have a pre-existing relationship with the college. Rocco Ritchie, Madonna’s son, is currently studying fine art at Central Saint Martins. While FKA Twigs regularly supports CSM alumni – often wearing designs created by freshly graduated artists, such as the wet look dress she wore during a Jools Holland performance of Dimitri Petsa in 2019. This year, the artist enlisted senior fashion student Yasmin Whitlock to create some of the accessories used in her latest video mixtape “CAPRISONGS.”
