NUC Grants Full Accreditation to 27 Undergraduate User Interface Courses


Twenty-seven (27) undergraduate programs in seven faculties of the University of Ibadan (UI) have been granted full accreditation in addition to the already fully accredited courses offered by the University..

This was in a letter from the office of the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode O. Adebowale.

The implication of this is that the University is authorized to admit students and award degrees in the programs for the next five years.

Fully accredited courses include German; Ibo; Linguistic; Music; Philosophy and Theater Arts from the Faculty of Arts.
From the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences there was Human Nutrition and Dietetics; Physiology; Physiotherapy; and environmental health sciences.

Computing and Geology were fully accredited in the Faculty of Science, while Architecture was fully accredited in the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management.
At the Faculty of Technology, Civil Engineering; Food Technology; Industrial and production engineering as well as wood products engineering have been fully accredited.

Veterinary medicine was also fully accredited at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
At the Faculty of Education, Early Childhood Education; Arabic education; Economic education; Islamic studies; health education; and Human Kinetics have been accredited.

NUC’s mandate is to hold initial accreditation for a new program after the program has lasted two academic sessions after the initial approval for the creation of the program. Subsequently, the Commission accredits the approved programs as they arise.
