After a seven-year hiatus, the Rattler Run will once again take place on the Otero College campus. Sponsored by the Otero College Foundation, proceeds from the event will be used to purchase equipment for the Otero College Fitness Center. The deadline for registration is Friday, March 18.
Scheduled for Saturday, April 9, the race will feature two events, a fun 5k run/walk and a 10k run. The 10k will start the day at 9:00 a.m. followed by the 5k which has a start time at 10:00 a.m. There will be prizes for the fastest time in the men’s and women’s categories for both races as well as a 14 and under winner for the 5k. The awards ceremony will take place at Rattler Field, weather permitting.
The entry cost for the 10k will be $30, while the 5k is priced at $20. Current Otero College students will be able to register for $10 for either race. The registration price includes a t-shirt that participants can pick up the day before the races, Friday, April 8, at the Otero College fitness center between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Once both events are over, Rattler Field near the Kiva will be prepared for the fun and food trucks will be invited for runners and spectators to enjoy! All sponsors will be offered a booth to advertise their businesses and interact with the community. The sponsors will also appear on the back of the t-shirts given to all participants and volunteers.
Dillon Martin, Director of the Foundation, shared, “We would really like to encourage all supporters of Otero College to participate in this event. Whether you’re walking or running, grabbing a bite to eat or just browsing the sponsor booths, we really hope this event draws the whole community. Everyone is welcome!”
