Postgraduate Scholarship (SHE) to pursue Undergraduate Courses in Basic and Natural Sciences | Central Government Postgraduate Scholarships


The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India has invited applications for the Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) 2021, a component of the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) program ).

The program aims to attract deserving students to study the basic and natural sciences at the college and university level and pursue research careers in basic and applied science fields, including engineering, medicine, agriculture, and veterinary science. .

Under the INSPIRE-Scholarship for Higher Education (INSPIRE-SHE) component, scholarships are offered to pursue undergraduate (UG) studies and continue to postgraduate (PG) studies, based on Class 12 exam results (top 1%) from the respective councils or in the eligible rank in the chosen competitions such as JEE (main), JEE (advanced), NEET, KVPY and gaining admission into the stream science (in any of the science courses or their combination from the 18 identified subjects. The identified subjects include the The following basic and natural science subjects are within the scope of the INSPIRE scholarship: (1) Physics, (2) Chemistry , (3) Mathematics, (4) Biology, (5) Statistics, (6) Geology, (7) Astrophysics, (8) Astronomy, (9) Electronics, (10) Botany, (11) Zoology, (12) Biochemistry , (13) Anthropology, (14) Microbiology, (15) Geophysics, (16) Geochemistry, (17) Atmospheric and (18) Ocean science.

Scholarship amount: The amount of the scholarship is Rs. 60,000/- per year (Rs. 5,000/- pm) + Mentorship grant 20,000/- per year.

Eligibility: Applicant must have completed class 12 in 2021 and must be pursuing first year of B.Sc., BS, Integrated M.Sc. or integrated MS courses in natural and basic sciences at any recognized college/university/academic institution in the country .

The candidate must additionally meet one of the following criteria: (i) must have overall marks in the top 1% of their Class XII exam from any state/central board in 2021 (best cut-off marks of 1% of various tips result in Class XII Review in 2020 and repositioning benchmarks are shown in the detailed notification available at Deadline for the year 2021 for the respective councils to be finalized by DST based on council inclusive model) (ii) Secure top 10000 rankings in JEE Main/Advanced or NEET (iii) Be selected under Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) (iv) be a National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Fellow (v) be a Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) Fellow (vi) be an International Olympiad Medalist.
