Undergraduate College Admissions Will Be Online, State Education Minister Confirms

Admissions to WB UG College 2020: According to the latest update, West Bengal State Minister of Education Partha Chatterjee has confirmed that undergraduate admissions will take place statewide online this year, in line with the COVID challenge -19. According to a PTI report, students who pass their HS / Uccha Madhyamik exams will be allowed to apply for admission to various colleges based in the state, through an online process.

The minister, speaking to the media, also said that the detailed notice for admissions was due to be released by the Department of Higher Education by early August 2020. The results of the West Bengal Council upper secondary examinations are expected to be announced by July 17. 2020, while scorecards will be available in 52 centers on July 31, 2020.

The minister who spoke after the declaration of the results of the exams of the class council 10 also pointed out that students can be admitted to their respective institutions from August 1 to 10, 2020 and can apply to another school from August 11 to 31, 2020 .

The minister added, however, that the higher education department had not yet received a response to the letter sent by Principal Secretary Manish Jain which addressed the various concerns of the state by making the final semester exams compulsory for students under the current circumstances.

He also pointed out that the safety of students cannot be compromised and that the universities in the state have decided on the evaluation criteria according to previous UGC recommendations which were released in April 2020.

Education department officials also briefed State Governor Jagadeep Shankar on the state’s perspective on the matter and also noted the concern about the safety and well-being of students.

The central government, in a notice published on July 6, 2020, recommended that it be mandatory for students to take final semester exams offline or online by September 30, 2020.

While speaking about the impact of the lack of placement opportunities for graduating students due to the lockdown, Chatterjee said the government is considering reaching out to alumni of different higher education institutions to come and help out. students in every way possible.
