PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) announced the expansion of its online undergraduate programs to provide students and professionals with the opportunity to advance their studies, according to their schedule.
After obtaining approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, UPIKE now offers its second fully online degree program, Associate in Communication (AS) at the College of Arts and Sciences.
“The University of Pikeville is pleased to add an Associate Degree in Communication which will be delivered exclusively online,” said Lori Werth, Ph.D. “This degree opens doors to a wide variety of career fields ranging from government, business and marketing to media and journalism. With such a range of employment and career paths, students will be equipped to enter a particular field or change careers along the way. “
Choosing to continue their education online with this program allows for greater flexibility, allowing students to juggle work, community, and family responsibilities while simultaneously graduating. Through an innovative curriculum, students enrolled in UPIKE’s accredited online study programs are positioned to become successful learners and leaders in the 21st century. The communication program emphasizes both a solid theoretical foundation and practical experiences to enhance students’ abilities to communicate in various contexts.
“Communication is thrilled to be the first online program of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pikeville. We are confident that AS in Communication will provide students with the essential communication skills needed in today’s workplace in a way that is flexible and accessible to more students, ”said Chandra Massner, Ph.D., associate professor and coordinator of the communication program. “We hope that by offering an AS program in online communication, these academic opportunities will be accessible to even more students. I invite anyone interested in adding these essential life and career skills to join us online.
